Libya lifts medics' death sentence
Libya's highest judicial body has commuted the death sentences against the six foreign medics, found guilt of deliberately infecting children with the HIV virus, to life imprisonment.
The decision from the Supreme Judiciary Council came shortly after families of the children started to receive compensation.
The five Bulgarian nurses and Palestinian doctor are now expected to complete the remaining 17 years of their sentences in Bulgaria. Probably when they reach Bulgaria they will be set free. So basically the effective punishment is 8 years in prison in Lybia + paying the compensation which they did not personally pay. That is fair enough. Notice that 8 years in a Lybian jail equals 800 years in a western jail.

Hi there,
thanks for dropping by and for your kind comments.
This is a story I knew nothing about. How did they infect children? Is that real or was it a Ghadhafi joke?
Hi Naj, thank you for coming to visit. it is really a pleasure and honor when somebody like you who has a GREAT blog come to visit people like me who are just beginners.
Anyway, on the early 90s those group of medics were hired in Lybia. Remember in those years HIV was a Vague Monster. Some places in Africa and middle east ( I am a Doctor from Egyppt) were still boiling the plastic disposable syringe ( to clean it !) for the lack of financial aids.
their Story is" somehow one of the syringe got contaminated by HIV and hense the whole boiler and kids got accidentally infected. Govenment of Lybia story is " the nurses Intentionally infected with kids with the contaminated shots".
the People of Lybia story ( brain washed by fanatics) is that " The nurses infected the kids intentionally because they are Christian and the kids are Muslims. the group were in jail since 8 years and finnaly the case resolved. again I am so happy that you visited me naj
Oh that is an absurd allegation!
So from what you tell me, it does sound like a bit of Ghaddafi-ish propaganda.
You have a fun blog. One must thank Amre for introducing me to so many nice Egyptians. In fact, I always loved and respected Egyptians, until Amro came along; and believe me, the image of Egypt for me suffered a HUGE scar with existence of this creature and the fact that some other Egyptians take him seriously.
this is the first time I realized Arabs do hate Persians!
Nj in 1988 in el fao- Staregic plannong of th massacre of the iranian troops wwas carried by Egyptians- well known by all Iraqis and Egyptians.
the missiles usd to exterminate Egyptians were egyptians and the poison gas was Egyptian.
kind regards
